Aquaponics by definition is the combination of aquaculture
& hydroponics, and you can achieve truly sustainable farming in your own suburban
backyard.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Anyone wanting to understand the basics of aquaponics , particularly those wanting to either build or buy their own aquaponics system.
CONTENT
This course will teach you the basics of getting started at home and even incorporates a visit to nearby venues currently using this very environmentally friendly method to allow you to see this method of farming in action in different environments. Chemical free and no waste nutrient rich fish water is pumped into gravel beds where plants are grown using a tenth of the water usually required for dirt grown vegetables.
OUTCOMES
The fundamentals of building and operating your own aquaponics system will be covered.

Resource requirements:
- Enclosed footware must be worn for this class. No thongs or open sandals permitted
- External visits to outside venues is included in this course - A bus will be supplied for transport purposes to and from these venues at no extra cost.
