AIM
This industry endorsed, three week course prepares men
and women for employment in the Oil and Gas Sector and is more commonly known as
Certificate IV Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) – course number 7163. The course
was designed and run at the request of an industry advisory group and is therefore
fully supported by employers.
It is accredited with the Australian Quality Training Framework, making it a
nationally recognised course and is accepted worldwide. Entry level requirements
fully comply with the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA - R002
- "Guidance Document & Competence: Remote System & ROV Division") for personnel
who wish to find employment in the ROV industry.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Candidates spend time flying an ROV and
performing the duties of Navigator/Co-Pilot and Deck Observer. They also perform
hands-on maintenance tasks with associated systems and equipment.
After extensive consultation with industry, Challenger Institute of
Technology will recommence ROV pilot/technician training in January 2012.

Basic Offshore Survival Induction and Escape Training (BOSIET):
- Undertake first response to fire incidents (PMAOHS212A, C6012)
- Undertake helicopter safety and escape (PMAOHS214A, C6014)
- Apply offshore facility abandonment and sea survival procedures and practices (PMAOHS215A, C6015)
- Survival at sea in the event of vessel abandonment (TDMMF1101A, S2103)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There are only eight students per
course and participants are selected by a competitive selection process involving
screening by a panel of industry representatives. You will be required to undertake
a medical examination (testing the eyes, ears, balance, respiratory function, back
etc) before being allowed to undertake the BOSIET training, but we strongly recommend
you get a full UK Oil & Gas medical before committing to the course.
