AIM
To provide the candidate with the knowledge and skills required to take charge of a medical emergency on board ship, to seek assistance from shore based medical advisers, and carry out medical procedures as directed from shore based medical advisers.
A combination of theory and practical sessions involving direct lectures from trained medical practitioners and hospital staff, group discussions, case studies and direct observation of medical cases. This course meets requirements of STCW95 Code. Successful completion requires 100% attendance. This course meets the requirements of STCW95 and is AMSA approved.

present at sea and port
- Actions to take in the event of medical emergencies
- Management of alcohol and drug abuse
- Use of radio medical advice
