MARITIME SCHOLARSHIPS
Four scholarships to the value of up to $750 are offered by the China Classification Society (CCS) annually to Challenger Institute Maritime Marine Engineering students (Certificate IV Transport and Distribution students).
Mr. Xin Zhao, General Manager of the CCS, said that the organisation decided to award the scholarships to Challenger Institute, as their WA Maritime Training Centre is the only facility in Western Australia offering this training program.
“We feel it is important to make a contribution to local maritime education, and intend to provide annual scholarships of $3,000 to the Centre for the purpose of supporting more students majoring in maritime engineering,” he said.
The CCS, whose Australian branch office is based in Como, is a non-profit maritime serving corporation. The Society’s purpose is to promote the security of life and property on the seas, and protect the marine environment. Its main business activity is carrying out classification surveys for ships, offshore installation and marine products.
