Aquaculture – Applied Research
The Netherlands: MOU with Wageningen IMARES University for joint R&D for yellowtail kingfish in recirculation aquaculture systems. During 2009 the ADU cultured and transported 2,000 yellowtail kingfish juveniles to Wageningen IMARES in The Netherlands for joint research trials on the species relating to growth in RAS.
New Zealand: MOU with New Zealand Hatchery Ltd and New Zealand Fish Farm Ltd in relation to the supply and transport of yellowtail kingfish fingerlings to New Zealand. The ADU has entered into an agreement to supply New Zealand Fish Farm Ltd with yellowtail kingfish juveniles for their aquaculture business in New Zealand.
Indonesia: Participant in an Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR) research project titled: ‘Achieving consistent spawning of captive yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) broodstock at Gondol Research Institute for Mariculture, Bali, Indonesia.’ The ADU is a partner in this project aimed at developing culture techniques for the culture of yellowfin tuna in Indonesia and Australia.
USA: University of Miami - The ADU has an in principle agreement with Professor Dan Benetti of the University of Miami for joint R&D efforts on a range of emerging marine fish species.
