Building Peel’s Hospitality and Tourism Workforce
Challenger Institute of Technology is committed to helping build a work-ready and skilled workforce for the Peel region’s booming hospitality and tourism industry.
The Institute has partnered with Mirvac Group – one of Australia’s largest hotel groups – to generate a hospitality and tourism workforce for the future. The new Mirvac Hospitality Room at Challenger’s Peel campus will provide students with industry-relevant training in a real-life bar and café setting.
Challenger Institute and Mirvac Group are also offering new hospitality and training scholarships. The 12 month, $1500 scholarships will be offered in the areas of commercial cookery, food and beverage services, housekeeping and accommodation services. Six scholarships will be available in commercial cookery and food and beverage services in Semester 2, 2010, with the scholarship program expanding to the other study areas in 2011. Two of the six scholarships will be awarded to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The scholarships, which cover tuition and resource fees, are available only at Challenger’s Peel campus and only in the year the scholarship is awarded.
Successful applicants will participate in supervised work placements at Mirvac Group properties and other hospitality and tourism establishments across the
Peel region.
Please note applications close June 11, 2010.
