ACEPT's Process Plant

ACEPT features a full-scale process plant and process control equipment that provides a hands-on experience in a real-life industry environment.

This consists of:

• a binary distillation column, the first in Australia to be purchased by a registered training organisation;
• an instrument air package that provides nitrogen and compressed air for use within the process train;
• holding tanks for water, oil and slops, and a recovered oil tank;
• a separator for separating oil and water;
• a tilted plate separator and an induced gas flotation vessel;
• hydrocyclones for purifying separated water;
• pumps and valves to circulate fluids;
• a pigging system to train students in the launching and recovery of pigs;
• a distributed control system for instrumentation;
• and confined space training.

The process plant is operated from the control room.

Honeywell have developed a simulation of the process control system that is identical in operation to the process train. This allows students to operate in a virtual environment before progressing to the ‘live’ equipment.

In addition, Woodside have donated a dehydration plant for use as a static training device.

Teaching is conducted in a contemporary-designed training and administration centre.
