Welcome to Challenger Institute of Technology
As you already know, legislation has been passed raising the school leaving age to 17 years of age. This means that all young people must be doing something in their 16th or 17th year. So congratulations on choosing Challenger Institute as your study option.
At the start of your course you will receive an induction into your program and a timetable outlining your scheduled classes/activities. Just so you are aware, the college will record attendance in every class and if you are absent from an entire scheduled on campus class, the duty of care team has a responsibility to notify your parent/guardian of your absence.
If this is not an appropriate option for you then you need to talk to the Duty of Care Coordinator at Challenger Institute about whether or not you may be eligible to apply for Independent Minor Status.
As a new student to Challenger Institute you also need to be aware that:
- You are responsible for your own learning
- Your learning activities are not limited to lessons in a class room.
- Some courses may be delivered across more than one campus and you are responsible for your travel arrangements between campuses.
- Assessment tasks may be required to be completed outside of the scheduled timetable.
- The Institute does not provide student supervision outside of classroom lectures.
- Parental consent will be required for excursions away from the college campus. If this consent is not given you will not be able to attend the excursion. You may also be required to arrange your transport to and from excursions.
- Bullying or any form of harassment is not acceptable behaviour at Challenger Institute
