| Recognition |
A broad term that means recognition of competencies currently held, regardless of how, when or where the learning TAFE Credit Transfer and Mutual Recognition. |
| Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) |
(see also Skills/Trade Recognition & Exemption). The acknowledgment of a person's current skills and knowledge acquired through previous education, training, work or life experience. In TAFE this type of recognition encompasses all recognition where either formal recognition arrangements have not been completed or where Mutual Recognition does not apply. Challenger TAFE offers RPL assessments across most study areas from Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level. |
| Registered Training Organisation (RTO) |
A training organisation formally approved, recognised and registered by a State or a Territory registering body. Each TAFE Institute has RTO status. |
| Resource Fees |
Resource fee covers materials purchased by Challenger TAFE to be consumed or transformed by students in the course of instruction. The resource fee also covers internet charges and other services utilised by the students in the course of instruction. Any equipment that will be retained by the student as his or her own personal property must be purchased separately by the student. Resource fees can vary from $50 to $3,000 according to the course a student is enrolled in.

| Result transfer |
Recognition through TAFE Credit Transfer, which results in an exemption from a particular module, subject or unit of competency. Where the student is exempted from the same TAFE unit for which they have a previous result (or a unit deemed by a TAFE Division to be equivalent to another TAFE unit) Pass or Graded Result appears on the student's transcript. Result transfer is not granted for Mutual Recognition, Pre-arranged RPL or RPL. |
