Liz Harris Chief Executive Officer Challenger Institute of Technology
As CEO of the Challenger Institute of Technology, Liz Harris is responsible for leading Western Australia's most diverse provider of vocational education and training. Liz brings to the role a breadth of experience, having worked in both the training and university sectors and in the international, national and state vocational education sectors. Liz has worked internationally in Japan, Fiji and Sri Lanka for extended periods of time, and the Institute now works internationally in 10 different countries including Chile, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates.
A Western Australian Telstra Business Women's Award winner in 2009, Liz Harris is an accomplished business and community leader. Liz's professional interests include building partnerships across educational, industry and community sectors, both within Western Australia and internationally to encourage learning and career development.
Liz has lead Challenger to win many awards, among them, two Western Australian Premier's Awards, the Western Australian Large Training Provider of the Year, and most recently, the 2012 Australian Large Training Provider of the Year. Liz is a director on the Australian Institute of Management Board, the Western Australian Training Accreditation Board and a former member of the Murdoch University Senate.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature, post-graduate qualifications in Language Studies and Post-Secondary Education, and a Masters Degree in Education with a research focus on developing learning organisations. |

Kerry Donovan General Manager Organisational Learning and Development
Kerry has recently moved from the Training Services directorate to join the executive team as acting General Manager for Organisational Learning and Development. Kerry is responsible for the Institute's workforce development and the professional practice of staff, as well as quality improvement, planning and development, campus libraries, e-learning and the Innovate program.
Kerry brings with her extensive knowledge of current trends within the VET sector, as well as experience in managing staff development for private industry and the public sector. She has a strong commitment to "life-long learning" and meeting workforce development needs. |

Terry Durant General Manager Client Services and Communications
Terry Durant has been a Challenger Institute executive member since 2007. With extensive experience in the private, federal and state government sectors, Terry's career-to-date has focused on improved marketing and customer service results through high-level strategic direction.
Terry's responsibilities at the Institute are based around student promotion, support, and retention. Her position is accountable for departments including international, campus services, client communications, career development, the client contact centre and admissions functions. |

Michael Juliff General Manager Business Services
Michael Juliff is a CPA qualified accountant with substantial private and public sector experience in financial and general management. Michael's responsibilities at Challenger Institute include financial management, human resource management and development, information and communication technologies as well as records management.
Michael has had several years' experience in the training sector as well as holding recent positions as Principal Business Analyst with the Department of Health and Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Housing. |

Melanie Sorensen General Manager Training Services
Melanie Sorensen is responsible for the training and workforce development services delivered by the Institute's nine schools and two specialist centres. She joined the executive team in September 2007 as general manager of organisational learning and development and had responsibility for the workforce development and professional practice of staff, the quality improvement areas of planning and evaluation, and the Institute libraries. Melanie was appointed to the acting general manager training services position in February 2013.
Over the past ten years, Melanie has focused on organisational capacity building and improving staff capability. Passionate about ensuring all learners have access to training, Melanie has extensive experience in e-learning and innovative practices, having led national projects within this area.
